SECTION I: ABOUT LUXE

What makes Luxe stand out among peers?
Luxe Auctioneers is a boutique auction house specializing in rare and fine wristwatches, pocket watches, clocks, and fine jewelry. With unparalleled expertise concentrated in these fields, Luxe offers a unique opportunity for both buyers and sellers in these arenas. Moreover, founded on the guided principles of ethics, transparency and trust, Luxe prides itself on offering more information, not less, to buyers and fair (generous by many other auction house standards) offers to sellers and consigners. Peruse our News and About pages for additional details.

Why should I bid or buy from Luxe?

Founded by collectors for collectors, Luxe Auctioneers believes that bidders deserve more information and not less to make informed decisions whether to bid. You will tend to find more photos per lot and greater details in the descriptions and condition reports over our competitors. Our goal is not to sell high at any cost. It is to create a stable and trustworthy niche market in which buyers and sellers of rare timepieces and fine jewelry will feel comfortable with their transactions and enjoy the process. For more information, see our Buy page.

Why should I sell or consign with Luxe?

Quite simply, our expertise in the arena of rare timepieces and jewelry is unrivalled and unmatched. Combined with a focus on trust and transparency, this means sellers and consignors come back to us again and again after shopping around the first time. We are told time and time again that our offers are heads and shoulders above the rest when it comes to special pieces. Lowballing offers found at some auction houses based on inexperience or greed are short-sighted in our view. We are aiming for lifetime relationships and a trusted auction experience. You will never be just a number at Luxe. For more information including options for consigning or selling outright, be in one treasure or an estate, please see our Sell page. To make a request for an auction estimate, complete our Request Estimate form.

SECTION II: A LUXE ACCOUNT

What is the difference between giving my email for updates, signing up for an account, and registering to bid?
Great question! When you give your email for our newsletter or updates, it does not establish an account at Luxe. You will simply be notified via email about important events (and may unsubscribe at any time). When you sign up for an account, you will always have an account with Luxe unless you opt to close it. You will be able to see your profile account, track favorites for lots, see your bidding history for past auctions, and more. However, it does not register you to bid for any particular auction. Bidding is auction specific and may be requested once you have an account at Luxe. So setting up the account is the first step to bid. Next, is to register to bid for each auction. Once you have registered for one auction, it will be a very simple process for future auctions in most cases as you will not be asked to provide verification information again unless it has been a long time since you were active or your data needs updating. The first time you register, you will be asked to provide a photo of your government issued ID as well as a credit card simple verification (both steps important if you are not known to Luxe as it assists us in warding off fraudulent bidders who may disrupt the bidding process for all by bidding without intention to pay). If you have any further questions, please contact us at bid@LuxeAuctioneers.com or by phone at 561.425.7000.
Where do I sign up for an account?
You may sign up for an account, which is the first step to becoming a bidder and participating in Luxe auctions, here: https://bid.luxeauctioneers.com/signup
How do I know what auctions are coming up?

If you sign up either to receive updates with just your email, or you have already established an account with Luxe, you will be notified via email in advance of upcoming auctions. In addition, you are always welcome to check in with us on our Upcoming Auctions page for up to date event information on the horizon.

SECTION III: REGISTERING TO BID

How do I register to bid?

The first step is to simply sign up for an account at Luxe, which you may do so here if you have not already done so as it is a one time event: https://bid.luxeauctioneers.com/signup
When you sign up for an account, you will always have an account with Luxe unless you opt to close it. You will be able to see your profile account, track favorites for lots, see your bidding history for past auctions, and more. However, opening an account does not register you to bid for any particular auction. Bidding is auction specific and once you have registered for one auction, it will be a very simple and fast process for future auctions in most cases as you will not be asked to provide verification information again unless it has been a long time since you were active or your data needs updating. The first time you register to bid for an auction, however, it may take a few minutes of your time. You will be asked to provide a photo of your government issued ID as well as a credit card simple verification (both steps important if you are not known to Luxe as it assists us in warding off fraudulent bidders who may disrupt the bidding process for all by bidding without intention to pay).
To register to bid at any time, simply log into your Luxe account here: https://bid.luxeauctioneers.com/login and then proceed to the auction for which you would like to register. If registration is open, there will be a Register to Bid button to click either on the calendar page or for each individual lot on the catalog as you browse. Once you are registered, you will know as you will be able to place bids and that button will no longer ask you to register. Note that registration is a manual process for first time bidders with Luxe so you may not be immediately registered once you complete the steps. If you have not received verification of your registration or an email with additional questions for you within 48 hours, please contact us. If it is within 24 hours of the auction in which you would like to bid, please follow up the completion of your online form with a phone call or email to us so we may expedite the process for you, if possible. Please contact us at bid@LuxeAuctioneers.com or by phone at 561.425.7000 should we be able to be of assistance or if it is within a few hours of the start of an auction in which you would still like to register to bid.
My bidder registration says “Pending” for status. What does this mean?

Registration is a manual process for first time bidders with Luxe so you may not be immediately registered once you complete the steps online. During this period, your registration will remain in pending status. If you have not received verification of your registration or an email requesting more information from you within 48 hours of completing the online form, please contact us. Moreover, if you have any issue completing the online form or steps, please reach out to us for additional assistance.
Why do you ask for a photo of my Identification and my credit card to bid?

The first time you register to bid for an auction, however, it may take a few minutes of your time. You will be asked to provide a photo of your government issued ID as well as provide a credit card for verification. To protect the integrity of the auction process for all bidders, both steps are important if you are not known to Luxe as it assists us in warding off fraudulent bidders who may disrupt the bidding process for all by bidding without intention to pay. This could result in other bidders losing a lot they would have won or paying more than they would have if a fraudulent bidder is allowed to bid. So while we apologize for the inconvenience, we hope you are aware it is for the benefit of us all that we weed out to the greatest extent possible unserious bidders. If you are exeriencing issues completing these steps to bid, please reach out to us at bid@LuxeAuctioneers.com or by phone at 561.425.7000.
I was asked to provide my credit card for verification to bid. Will I be charged?

No. Our credit card processer verifies your billing address and security information by making a temporary pending charge that will fall off your statement within a few days. It is a nominal amount – usually $1 or less and hence should not cause you any hardship in the meantime.
Will the credit card I provide for verification be charged if I win at auction?

If you would prefer to pay via another card or by any other means currently accepted by Luxe including wire transfers, you are welcome to do so. Your card will not be automatically charged upon winning at auction. You will be invoiced and may select your preferred method of payment at that time.

SECTION IV: BIDDING

What are my options for bidding? Can I bid now?

There are four main options for bidding at a Luxe auction. Absentee bidding, Telephone bidding, Online Bidding, and In Person Bidding. Please click on any of the forementioned options for additional details. You may place your bids in advance with absentee bidding as well as online bidding as soon as bidding is open for a particular auction, usually approximately three weeks in advance of the auction date.

How does Absentee Bidding work? Can I change my bid?

For the bidder who anticipates too full a calendar to closely monitor bidding on auction day but does not want to be left out of his/her chance to win. After registering to bid for Luxe auction, simply fill out our short Absentee Bidding Form either online or download and print. Return it to Luxe via online upload, email to bids@luxeauctioneers.com, fax to 561.425.7000, mail well in advance, or hand it to Luxe staff at one of our offices. Be sure to check your email for confirmation of our receipt and processing of your Absentee Bid. Then, on the day of the auction, rest easy or keep busy as Luxe clerks execute your bidding to your specifications for you. Should your bid be successful, you will be notified within 48 hours of the auction via email with how to proceed with your purchase. You may change your bid, time permitting, by submitting a new form with your revisions and obtaining confirmation that your bid(s) have been amended for you prior to the start of the auction.

How do I place bids by telephone in real time during the auction?

For the bidder who prefers to rely on person to person phone communication in real time during the auction (or prefers to leave the reliability of their internet connection out of the equation), we offer phone live bidding. After registering to bid for an auction, simply complete our short Absentee / Telephone Bidding Form, selecting the Telephone Live Bid Option. Complete online or download and print. Return it to Luxe via online upload, email to bids@luxeauctioneers.com, fax to 561.425.7000, mail well in advance, or hand it to Luxe staff at one of our offices. Be sure to check your email for confirmation of our receipt and processing of your request to bid live by telephone. By specifying a safety bid on the form, you can ensure that even in the event of a lost connection on the day of the sale, your bid will be executed to the safety amount. Then, on the day of the auction, the clerk assigned to execute your bids on your behalf will contact you prior to the start of the auction to walk you through the process and arrange a later call during the auction. The clerk will reach out again shortly before your lot is called so you are still a part of the action, placing your bids in real time for you as you see fit. Should you be successful, you should be so appraised by the clerk, and Luxe will send you an email confirmation and invoice within 48 hours of the auction's end.

How does bidding online work? When does it start?

Bidding online, our most popular option, affords a variety of flexibility. Simply register to bid first. You may enter your bid at any time on any lot once bidding opens a few weeks prior to the auction. At that time, you may elect to go ahead and submit your highest bid (which will continue to act on your behalf as others bid). Later, you may change your mind and decide to raise your highest bid or simply execute another incremental bid. Then, on auction day, sit back and open your browser on the computer or your phone, and watch and listen as the auctioneer calls each lot. Watch the convenient display in the online digital bidding room to see the progression of bids on each lot. Take part at that time for maximum excitement and to have the final word if you so desire before the hammer falls. Our robust online platform will make it easy, enjoyable, and fun. No matter where you are in the world, we always have your digital seat in the saleroom ready on auction day.

I have seen the Luxe Auction advertised on a third-party platform site. Can I bid there?

You are welcome to bid on any officially sanctioned third party marketplace auction platform site of which you may be a member. Please note, however, such sites may pass on additional charges to buyers that could be avoided by registering and bidding via our own Luxe Platform located here: https://bid.luxeauctioneers.com

Can I attend the auction live to bid?

Absolutely! For the bidder who has the time and loves the thrill of a premium live auction at a beautiful locale, we have the option of In Person Bidding at each and every live auction held by Luxe. It will be an elegant, entertaining, and at times, truly thrilling experience not to be missed. Begin with one of our Preview Days held close to the auction date at a stately, often historic location. In the alternative, schedule a private preview appointment on a day of your choosing leading up to the auction. Soon to follow, the Auction Day promises to be worth the valuable time of Luxe clients. Register to bid in advance for the smoothest and fastest entry. Pick up your paddle and save your seats. Feel the excitement and the pulse of bidding live with Luxe!

May I send an agent to bid for me?

After successfully registering to bid for a particular auction, you may elect to send an agent to bid on behalf of yourself or your company. However, signed written consent must be provided to Luxe, confirmed, verified and accepted, in advance of the auction. Acceptance and approval of such a consent is at the sole discretion of Luxe. Please contact us at bids@luxeauctioneers.com or by calling 561.425.7000 for additional assistance in exercising this option.

Can I see the items offered at auction?

Luxe encourages all potential bidders to examine their lots of interest in person where possible. To that end, you are welcome to attend one of the Preview Days held in advance of each auction. In the alternative, private appointments may be accommodated by calling our office 561.425.7000.

What is the Buyer’s Premium? Are there other fees to consider beyond the hammer price?

As is customary in auction bidding, purchases at auction are subject to, in accordance with the Conditions of Sale, a Buyer’s Premium and applicable sales taxes. The Buyer’s Premium is a tiered structure with the first $1,000,000 of the item’s hammer price subject to a straight 25% Buyer’s Premium. Should the hammer price exceed one million U.S. Dollars, the portion above $1,000,000 up to $5,000,000 will be subject to a 20% buyer’s premium. Hammer prices above five million dollars will have that portion subject to a 12.5% buyer’s premium. If the buyer has made a purchase via a third-party platform, the buyer agrees to pay the additional fees imposed by the platform, often amounting to 5%. This is in addition to the Buyer’s Premium explained above.
When applicable, state sales or use taxes will be added to the hammer price, buyer’s premium, and any other charges related to the lot(s) won (including but not limited to storage, packing or shipping charges, if applicable). Credit card fees may be additionally imposed. Please see our Conditions of Sale for additional information. The applicable sales tax rate is defined by the state, county, city or locale in which the lot will be picked up. Should you have a valid and applicable resale certificate to forgo such taxes, please submit it to Luxe via email at bids@luxeauctioneers.com or fax 561.425.7270 at your earliest convenience. If you have not received confirmation of acceptance prior to the auction, please contact us at bids@luxeauctioneers.com or call 561.425.7000 to be certain your exemption has been accepted and is on file.

How do I know if I won at auction?
The hammer price shall be the highest bid accepted by the auctioneer for the lot and that bid will be the winner. Luxe will send out invoices to the winning bidder by email within 24 hours of the auction end; however, it is the responsibility of the bidder to inquire as to whether or not their bid was successful to avoid potential miscommunication and resulting storage fees. Please contact us if you are in need of further assistance with ascertaining whether you have won at auction.

SECTION V: BUYING
What happens after the auction?

Luxe will send out an invoice to the winning bidder of each lot by email within 24 hours of the auction’s end; however, it is the responsibility of the bidder to inquire as to whether or not their bid was successful to avoid potential miscommunication and resulting storage fees. The Buyer’s Premium, payment processing fees, and any applicable sales tax or other duties will be added to the hammer price. Payment and pick up arrangements for purchases are required within five (5) days of the close of the auction. Please consult the Payment & Pickup and Packing & Shipping pages as well as the Conditions of Sale for more information. You are also welcome to contact us for assistance with your purchases.
When is payment due for lot(s) I won?

Payment and pick up arrangements for purchases are required within five (5) days of the close of the auction. Please consult the Conditions of Sale for more information or contact us.

How do I pay for the lot(s) I won?

Successful bidders should receive an invoice for property won at auction within 24 hours via email. Payment options, pickup instructions, and options for shipping will be provided as well. Luxe is pleased to offer a variety of payment methods to our clients. For invoices under $5,000, buyers may pay in cash, check, or via credit card (credit card purchases are subject to a 3.5% processing fee to cover merchant processing and related fees). Payments made by personal check may be held up to 10 business days before releasing property to allow the check to clear and are subject to prior approval by Luxe. For invoices in excess of $5,000, bank wire transfers are preferred and other payment arrangements are subject to approval by Luxe over this amount. Please contact us at 561.425.7000 or email info@luxeauctioneers.com to discuss approval for other payment methods.

How do I get the lot(s) I won?

Payment and pick up arrangements for purchases are required within five (5) days of the close of the auction. Property not picked up within 5 days may be subject to storage fees. Title to auction purchases is not transferred until payment is made and cleared, where applicable, for the invoiced total due. Luxe has no responsibility nor liability for property once it has been picked up or transferred to third party shippers. Should Luxe be contracted by the purchaser to pack and ship property, title will transfer upon acceptance by the third party shipping company contracted to ship the package. For more information on packing, shipping and pickup opportunities, please visit our Payment & Pickup and Packing & Shipping pages.

No. To protect the integrity and smooth operation of auctions, a legally binding contract has been formed. In accordance with the Conditions of Sale, the contract to sell the lot is formed, with limited exceptions at the discretion of Luxe, between seller and buyer when the highest bid is accepted by the auctioneer and the hammer falls.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
REGARDING LUXE AUCTIONEERS
Peruse the full FAQ in full below or skip to the section or question of interest by clicking on any section title or question below
How do I consign an item I own for auction at Luxe?

The first step would be to request an auction estimate by completing our form and submitting photos and details. We will then have one of our specialists determine if the property is suitable for auction at this time and if so prepare an estimate for you. If there is an upcoming auction for which the property is suitable, Luxe will provide you with a shipping label and instructions for packing carefully along with a contract for consignment. Staff will review with you the condition and likely auction estimate as well as setting a reserve, if desired. Upon receipt and verification of authenticity and condition, professional photography and expert description as well as a condition report will be completed as we prepare for the auction. If your item successfully sells at auction and payment has been received from the winning bidder, Luxe will issue payment to you within 30 days of the auction’s end. If the property fails to sell at auction, we will return it back to you or assist you in considering a private sale or other auction opportunity, if advisable.

How do I know if an item I own is eligible for inclusion in an upcoming auction by Luxe?

We are happy to assist you in determining eligibility of your property for future auctions by Luxe. You may submit photos, documentation (if any), and details via our Auction Estimate Request form, email us about your treasure at info@luxeauctioneers.com, fax us at 561.425.3691, or call us at 561.425.7000 to speak with one of our specialists and arrange a video appointment or to come in to one of our offices for a private consultation. Whichever method you choose, we look forward to hearing from you.

What could I expect my item to sell for at auction?

Our specialists will guide you through the process and let you know what the estimate range and starting price would be for your particular property. That said, it is difficult to predict the expected hammer price for rare items, and frequently such rare items may sell for much more than the estimates predict. Similarly, at any given time in the market, property may fail to reach the expected estimated range. If this is of concern, a reserve may be considered and implemented to protect your property from selling for less than the lower value in the estimate.

If accepted by Luxe for auction, how do I get my item(s) to you?

Depending on size and location in the world, we will assist you in finding the most suitable methods and materials for carefully packing and shipping your treasures. Luxe staff is well versed on the particulars of packing and shipping for a wide range of property requiring great care. Frequently, Luxe will provide the insured shipping label as well so that it does not cost you to ship your items for consignment to us.

When would I be paid for a consignment? What if it does not sell?

If your item successfully sells at auction and payment has been received from the winning bidder, Luxe will issue payment to you within 30 days of the auction’s end. If the property fails to sell at auction, we will return it back to you or assist you in considering a private sale or other auction opportunity, if advisable.

How long until my item is sold?

We generally request that consignors notify us of their intent to sell in an upcoming auction at least 2 months prior to the auction of interest to allow time for expert evaluation and descriptions, professional photography and marketing to our global audience. However, at times exceptions may be made. Should you prefer a faster solution, an outright sale to Luxe or private party transaction may be facilitated under some circumstances.

I am looking to sell quickly and not wait for an auction appropriate for my item(s). Is that an option?
Yes. Luxe understands that sometimes circumstances necessitate a faster payment schedule than a regular consignment for auction might otherwise entail. We are happy to assist in determining if your property is eligible for outright sale to Luxe or assist you in arranging a private sale that meets your expectations and desired timeline for completion of the sale.

Do you handle large collections or estates?

Absolutely. Luxe specialists will assist you in determining the value and strength at auction versus private sale for the entirety of your collection or in part. Please call us at 561.425.7000 to discuss your situation in greater detail and how we may be of assistance to you.
